Julians Berry Farm Toi's Challenge is a multi-terrain 18km loop on the beautiful coastal Ngā Tapuwae o Toi (in the footsteps of Toi) track. The trail twists up and down steep coastal hills and along beautiful Otarawairere and Ohope Beaches, through stunning bush and up and down hundreds of steps.
Until the last dash to the finish line, Toi's remains unrelentingly hilly. We guarantee it will challenge you. But the inspirational signs and great camaraderie with other participants, plus the juicy punnet of strawberries you'll get at the finish thanks to Julians Berry Farm and Cafe, should help keep you going. |
ATHLETE INFO AND TIMELINE
* Entries close at 5.00pm, Monday, November 10, 2025. Please note that late entries can be made in person on Saturday the 15th of November from 4.00pm to 6.00pm as well as on race day for an additional cost of $20.
Race day entries are open from 6.30am until 7.30am.
* Race pack pick up: on Saturday, November 15, Whakatane Athletics and Harrier Clubrooms (Short Street, Whakatane) from 4.00 - 6.00pm. Packs can also be collected on race day, Sunday morning from 6.30am to 7.30am.
* All race events start at 8.00am at the Whakatane Athletics and Harrier Clubrooms.
* Prize giving begins at 1.00pm and will take place at the finish line.
* All participants will need to bring their own cup or water bottle. Water stops will be provided around the course for athletes to refill their bottles and cups. Collapsible cups will be available for a nominal fee at race headquarters.
* All 18km finishers will receive a memorial medal.

* Early Bird Price - $70 for the 18km Julian's Berry Farm and Cafe individual run/walk (all age categories): June 17th to August 29th
* Regular Price - $80 for the 18km Julian's Berry Farm and Cafe individual run/walk (all age categories): August 30th to September 24
* Late Online Price - $90 for the 18km Julian's Berry Farm and Cafe individual run/walk (all age categories): September 25th to November 18th
* In Person Entry Fee - $110 for the 18km Julian's Berry Farm and Cafe individual run/walk (all age categories)
RELAY
* Early Bird Price - $70 for the 18km Julian's Berry Farm and Cafe relay (all age categories): June 17th to August 29th

The categories for the relay competitions are;
Male relay, Female relay, Mixed relay, Male School relay (both runners MUST be from the same school), Female School relay (both runners MUST be from the same school), Mixed School relay (one male and female runner, who MUST be from the same school).
